Tourist / Short-Stay (tanki-taizai) Visas

Applicants who are not residents of Japan can enroll in the program using a tourist / short-stay (tanki-taizai) visa. Citizens of countries that have a visa exemption arrangement with Japan are automatically granted a short-term "temporary visitor" landing permit upon arrival in Japan. This permit generally allows a maximum stay of about 90 days, but please confirm the conditions for your nationality before applying.

Other Visas

If you have a ryugakusei visa, enrolling in JBPP should be no problem. However, if you have a shugakusei visa issued by Yamasa, you can study only in the Format 3 course, in conjunction with the AIJP or AJSP programs, due to regulatory issues.

Other visa categories include the working holiday visa, visa for students of Japanese ancestry, cultural activities visa, work visa, family visa, etc. If you have anything other than a tourist / short-stay visa, please inform the Admissions Office as soon as possible.

Citizens of certain countries will need to find guarantors. For further details on visas and requirements for entry into Japan, please see the Japan Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
